Our home away from home…

I usually jump into a page with my own idea of how I want it to look, or I let the papers speak to me while creating. Sometimes, though, using a sketch is a fun challenge, especially ones by Susan Stringfellow. She is incredibly talented, and I love all her great layers!

As part of a challenge in our Disney scrap group, we were asked to try out Sketch #164:

Sketch 164

At first, those circles along the top had my brain spinning – but then I thought about a cute Mickey punch I have where he is mid-stride…which got me thinking about walking…which got me thinking about walking down Main Street…which got me thinking about a random quote I saw about walking into DL and seeing the castle…

And that is how this page was mentally created:

The background paper is from DCWV Le Blanc, the other papers I had from an old Disney stack that I cannot remember much about (I tore it apart eons ago). The star vellum is from Hobby Lobby, and is one of my favorite papers of recent months.

Embellishments are from Hobby Lobby (enamel dots), Freckled Fawn (Love clip, pink heart, wooden word, colored with a silver Sharpie), Elle’s Studio (acrylic house), and The Crafty Pickle (blue starry night flair).

Once again, sewing really completes this page – I love that added texture! It’s quite feminine for me, but I am learning to embrace that aspect of my personality (my Mom would be so proud!).

Thanks for looking! 🙂
